1. How quickly can I prepare a floor with the Onfloor 16™? Onfloor 16™ is designed to handle 200-300 square feet per hour, depending on the surface type or presence of sealers or coatings. Your production rate may vary.
2. How often should I change Sanding Discs? Change Sanding Discs when the machine is taking too long to get down to bare wood or not making a significant change to the floor's finish.
3. How do you change the attachments? With the Onfloor 16™ turned off and unplugged, lean the machine back on its handle, grip the back of the pad with two hands and pry off. If the attachment does not come off easily, you can use a small pry bar. Sanding Discs are fastened with Velcro.
4. The machine is too heavy. How do I lift it? Unplug the motor unit, remove the pin, and the handle will come off. Disconnect the handle unit from the frame, but be careful not to drop or damage it. Lift the handle using the grips. To lift the lower unit, use the grab handles on the bowl. It is heavy and will require another person to help carry.
5. Why is the machine jumping, bumping, tearing up grommets, or not sanding? Check paper for correct grit or clogging. Check to see if inner bowl is free and not stuck. The floor surface may be uneven and continued use will damage the machine.
6. Why are one or more of the attachments not spinning? Possibly you have a broken belt. Remove the attachments, then take the flat screws and washers out of aluminum plate. Pry the plate up and remove. New and old belts can be then removed or replaced by hand turning the pulleys, and rolling the belt off.
7. Why won't the machine turn on? Check the outlet for power first. If you are using an extension cord, make sure it is a UL 12/3 gauge cord and no longer than 50 feet. Make sure you are running the machine on a 15-amp dedicated circuit with nothing else running on it. Check the switches. Test the sander motor. If it does not come on, bypass the switch by plugging a cord directly into the motor and THEN into wall outlet. If the motor now operates, the switch in the handle needs to be replaced.
8. What should I do if the Onfloor 16™ isn't sanding well? Check the main and pulley bearings. Shut machine off, remove the plug from outlet and disconnect the motor pigtail. Lay machine back on its handle and rotate one disc. Do the other two rotate? If yes, then the discs are operating properly. Next, rotate the inner bowl a full 360 degrees in both directions. If it rotates freely without heavy resistance then it is also operating properly. Finally, plug the machine back in, keeping away from the bottom of machine, and turn on the sander switch. With the three discs spinning, does the inner bowl slowly rotate in any direction? If yes, the machine is mechanically operating properly. Note: The inner bowl is not driven; it runs freely on two bearings. On new or recently refurbished machines, the inner bowl will not spin until the bearing seal is broken in, usually after the first use.
9. The machine shut down. What should I do? The Onfloor 16™ was probably drawing too much current, and the machine is designed to shut down before it overloads a circuit. Remove any weights, unplug the extension cord, and make sure that you have a dedicated 15-amp circuit with no other electrical devices working off of it. Check your residence's main breaker panel for a tripped breaker. Make sure that the outlet you are using has power to it. And finally, check the cord from the handle to the motor to ensure that it is securely plugged in. Plug the vacuum into a separate circuit, wait 30 seconds, then press the Reset Button before attempting to restart.
10. The filter is clogged. Do I need to replace it? No. Onfloor 16™ is designed with Filter Shaker Knobs that help keep the Onfloor 16's non-stick filter from clogging. The Filter Shaker Knobs should be pushed alternately every 15 or 20 minutes. (Make sure the vacuum is turned off.) This will release dust from the filter rather than having to remove or replace it.
11. How often should I empty the vacuum? The Vacuum Canister should be emptied and the filter brushed clean when it reaches three-quarters full, as well as before transporting and returning the machine. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum debris properly, following any state or local regulations that may apply.
12. The dust skirt doesn't reach the floor. Did I do something wrong? Since the Onfloor 16™ attachments vary in height, the dust skirt is designed to be adjustable. When changing attachments, remove the dust skirt, then replace it by aligning the center of the skirt with the center of the machine and wrapping it around.
13. Can I add additional weight to the Onfloor 16™? For jobs that require additional weight, Onfloor™ has provided a weight that can be added to the machine. The weight fits over the three posts on the top of the machine bowl. Note: If the circuit breaker overloads and the machine shuts down, discontinue the use of weights.
