So, I need a truck for Saturday, when do I get it?
You can pick the truck up at 4PM Friday and have to
return it by 4PM Saturday
Okay, but I am not going to pick it up until Saturday
morning, can I return it Sunday morning for a one day charge?
Nope. Our rental day is 4PM to 4PM. Your truck is
available to you at 4PM Friday. If you want to wait until Saturday
morning to pick it up, that is fine, but it is still due back at 4PM
Saturday.
What do I need to reserve a truck rental?
All we need is your name, phone number and either
$200 (or more) cash or a credit card. The amount we will take in
cash or charge to your credit card will be adjusted by the estimated
total of your rental. $200 is the minimum amount we will require
but it is often higher.
What if I need to cancel or change my reservation?
There is a $100 charge if you change, canceling or
do not show for your reservation.
Okay, but can’t you make an exception, my closing got
put off because the other party was not ready?
Then you should ask them to compensate you for the
$100.
What do I need to rent a truck?
Your valid drivers license and $200 (or more) cash or
a credit card. The amount we will take in cash or charge to your
credit card will be adjusted by the estimated total of your rental.
$200 is the minimum amount we will require but it is often higher.
The renter and all operators must be 21 or older.
Don’t I need a special license, CDL or something?
No. All of our trucks have a GVRW under 26,001
pounds which means your “normal” drivers license is all you need.
How do I know you will have the truck?
Since we own our trucks, this should happen under
only two circumstances, either another customer has not returned it
(which we have very little immediate control over but will do
everything we can to get it back here for you) or the truck is not
rentable due to a mechanical or safety reason. We try to avoid the
latter by making sure our trucks our well maintained, but sometimes
unforeseen things happen and we will do everything we can to get
your truck up and running safely for you or to make another truck
available for you.
I want to make a one-way move to California
Sorry, not with us. We own our trucks and they need
to be returned to us.
I need to go to Florida to pick up some stuff and
bring it back to Hudson, that’s okay, isn’t it?
Nope. Our trucks are only for use in the following
states: Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island,
Connecticut and New York. We do not have a support system in place
to assist you outside of this area if you have a problem with the
truck.
Specifically, if you take our truck outside the above
named states and have a mechanical problem or accident, you will be
100% responsible for any costs related to repairs and/or towing to
Hudson, MA, including rental and damage waiver charges for the time
the truck is unavailable for other renters.
I don’t have a Fast Lane®
or EZ Pass®
transponder, but I am going to sneak through anyway.
Guess again. We will get a photo of your violation
and you will pay the violation amount plus a $50 administration fee
per violation. Make a round trip through Fast Lane®
without a transponder and it will cost you $100 to $200. Oh, and if
you fail to pay the charges, your license and registrations can be
made non-renewable until you do pay them, plus any additional
charges the Registry might add.
Using a transponder lane without a transponder will
be a very expensive decision.
What is this Damage Waiver Charge?
The Damage Waiver Charge limits your financial
responsibility for damage to the truck to $2500. This means if you
damage our truck, you will pay for the first $2500 of damage and we
will cover the rest.
A few exceptions to this are damage to the roof (such
as from hitting trees, bridges, overpasses or other items) or if you
were using the truck in an illegal manner. In the event of roof
damage or damage resulting from illegal use, you are fully
responsible for the damage.
Damage waiver covers our truck, it does not cover
your property.
Do I have to take the Damage Waiver?
Yes, unless you are able to provide us with a
certificate of insurance for $1 million with us named as an
additional insured. We must have the certificate at least one day
(excluding Saturday and Sunday) prior to your rental. Improperly
completed certificates are not accepted so please contact us for
specifics of how the certificate must be prepared.
But doesn’t my car insurance or credit card cover me?
Nope. Your credit card will cover you for most
rental cars, but will not cover a truck. (call your credit
card company and double
check if you doubt this). Your car insurance will also cover rental
of a car, but not rental of a vehicle with a GVRW in excess of
10,000 pound. (call your agent and double check if you doubt this)
What about Fuel?
Fuel is not included in the rental rates. You are
responsible for returning the truck with the same amount of fuel
that was in the tanks when you received the truck.
How much Fuel will I use?
Our trucks typically get 6 to 10 miles per gallon
Is this everything I need to know?
Nope. This is a brief summary. You need to read our
rental contracts and attachments/amendments to get all the specifics
about inclusions, exclusions, what you can do and what you cannot
do.
